Handing Over the Cash
New home construction comes with so many benefits and options – customizing your space, all-new appliances, systems and interiors – but relocating can empty your piggy bank before the moving truck shows up! We want to lend a hand with the heavy lifting by giving $1,000 to buyers who sign a purchase contract on a home from now through May 31, 2019.
Home buyers will receive 10 Benjamins – by check — from Colliers Hill — just for filling out and submitting a W-9 after closing on their homes. And the best part? The $1,000 cash incentive doesn’t interfere with any other incentives offered by individual builders. All buyers who sign a purchase contract on a home between February 15 and May 31 – no matter which builder they choose — are eligible* and can use the greenbacks for whatever they choose.
The Big Move
According to Home Advisor, hiring movers can cost between $500 and $1,400 at an average rate of $25 to $50 per hour. The cost of moving locally can range from $800 to $2,000 for a four-bedroom house – depending on whether you pack it yourself. The cost of boxes and packing materials can fluctuate, especially if you can score freebies on our local Next Door or Craigslist! Another variable is how much stuff you have to transport – usually priced by the pound.
The cost to move across the country can run $1,000 per room. Moving.com estimates the average cost of an out-of-state move for a house with 2,000 to 3,000 square feet at $4,300, and for a cross-country move up to $15-18,000. Zillow lists other moving costs you can expect to pay for like packing materials, containers and even temporary storage.

*Colliers Hill residents, Richmond American Homes employees, Shea Homes employees, Meritage Homes employees, Century Communities employees, trade partners, or affiliated partners are not eligible to participate in the Colliers Hill “Go for it!” incentive program. The “Go for it!” incentive program is open to active Colliers Hill home buyers, 18 years or older, who sign a purchase contract on a home in Colliers Hill between February 15, 2019 and May 31, 2019. Home buyers must complete and submit a W-9 form after closing on their home in order to receive the moving expenses gift.
