JOYSOME: OPENING RECEPTION
Join us for an opening reception to kick off JOYSOME an exhibition in collaboration with East Window. JOYSOME consists of fifty images selected from hundreds of responses to a call for work on the theme of joy. Submitted by artists and non-artists alike, the works in this exhibit span a range of disciplines and affective registers associated with joy— Ecstasy, Transcendence, Sadness, The Fear of Joy, Anger, Mania, Euphoria, Toxic Positivity, The American Dream, The Pursuit of Happiness, Selflessness, Success, Sacrifice, Divination, Cuteness, The Sublime, Altruism, and Peace. The selected images are printed on flags and exhibited throughout the Front Range as part of the Month of Photography Festival.
The exhibit starts at the Dairy Arts Center and ends at The Gallery at the Bus Stop Apartments and free refreshments will be provided by Ratio Beerworks.

Bookbinding is back this season by popular demand! Learn bookbinding techniques and vocabulary as you fold, stack, and sew pages together using the Coptic stitch bookbinding method. Coptic binding results in a spine that opens completely, so your book will lay flat. The sewn binding is refined enough to be a decorative element on a finished book, or it can be covered by a hard binding. You have the option to continue your bookbinding education in the next class! Navraj Singh Goraya, popularly known as Nav, is a Canadian hip-hop music producer and recording artist. Born and raised in Toronto, both of his parents were born in Punjab, India, and later settled in Canada.
Nav started making music while he was in third grade in school. In mid-2015, he made low-key contributions to Drake’s hit single ‘Back to Back.’ He began his own journey through the platform known as ‘SoundCloud,’ a social media site where budding musicians can share their creations with the rest of the world. Nav has claimed that many of his songs have drugs, sex, and depression as their themes, as these topics are usually not talked about in Indian homes.

SOMETHING ROTTEN

THE FOREIGNER
The Foreigner is a fun, two-act comedy by American playwright Larry Shue. The story takes place in a fishing lodge in rural Tilghman County, Georgia where two Englishmen, Froggy and Charlie, arrive as guests. The shy Charlie agreed to accompany Froggy on the trip after his sick wife begged him to go. When people at the lodge try to talk to Charlie, however, he remains silent: he is terribly shy, depressed about his wife’s illness, and cannot find the words to reply. Froggy claims that Charlie cannot talk because he is a “foreigner” from an exotic country and does not understand English. Taking the explanation that he’s a non-English speaker as fact, the lodge’s guests quickly begin revealing their secrets, and Charlie soon discovers scandals amongst some of the residents of the lodge.

POSTCARD PRINT EXCHANGE WORKSHOP
This workshop will be a hands-on activity of making art and connecting with others. Participants will carve soft linoleum blocks with an image or symbol of their choice, or something inspired by the exhibition. There will be an option to collaborate on the carving, either in the design phase or swapping blocks part way through the carving process.
Participants will ink up and print the blocks onto postcard-sized paper making multiple prints, collaborating during the printing process, adding layers and additional elements from each other’s blocks. Last, the artists will exchange prints with one another, leaving the workshop with a handful of collaborative and inspiring postcard-sized prints.

ADVENTURES THROUGH WONDERLAND
Boulder Ballet School presents Storybook Ballet: Adventures Through Wonderland. FLOGGING MOLLY
Flogging Molly is Dave King (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, bodhran), Bridget Regan (violin, tin whistle, vocals), Dennis Casey (guitar, vocals), Matt Hensley (accordion, concertina, vocals), Nathen Maxwell (bass guitar, vocals), Spencer Swain (mandolin, banjo, guitar, vocals), and Mike Alonso (drums, percussion). Starting out as the house band for Molly Malone’s in Los Angeles and building a loyal following through endless touring, Flogging Molly has become a staple in the punk scene over the past 20-plus years, kicking off with its riotous debut, Swagger, and continuing through their five additional studio albums. With numerous late-night television appearances under their belt, a sold-out Salty Dog Cruise through the Caribbean, and a yearly St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Los Angeles, the band released their seventh full-length album, Anthem, last September via Rise Records.

THOM LAFOND & FRUTA BRUTAL
Thom LaFond’s music is danceable, but with depth in the craft of songwriting Thom’s approach to music is to deliver pure emotion, tangled in rhythms for the dance-floor. Fruta Brutal emerged from Martín Better Longo’s search for a musical identity as an Ecuadorian who immigrated to the U.S. at a young age. During his college years, spent in the bustling music scene of New Orleans and extensively traveling through South America, Martín was exposed to various subversive musical movements, including Brazil’s Tropicália and Argentina’s iconic rock, which would inspire Fruta Brutal’s bilingual repertoire. Martín’s latest single, Cultura Vampira, released with Denver’s Soundbreaker Records, showcases his eclectic sound that mixes popular Latin American rhythms with indie rock pop.

ANI DIFRANCO
Widely considered a feminist icon, Grammy winner Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement, being one of the first artists to create her own record label in 1990. While she has been known as the “Little Folksinger,” her music has embraced punk, funk, hip hop, jazz, soul, electronica and even more distant sounds. Her collaborators have included everyone from Utah Phillips to legendary R&B saxophonist Maceo Parker to Prince. DRINKING HABITS
Accusations, mistaken identities, and romances run wild in this traditional, laugh-out-loud farce. Two nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to keep the convent’s doors open, but Paul and Sally, reporters and former fiancees, are hot on their trail. They go undercover as a nun and priest, but their presence, combined with the addition of a new nun, spurs paranoia throughout the convent that spies have been sent from Rome to shut them down. Wine and secrets are inevitably spilled as everyone tries to preserve the convent and reconnect with lost loves.
