Halloween Happenings Near Erie!
One of the best things about living in Colliers Hill in northwest Denver is its proximity to Erie (less than five minutes), Boulder (25 minutes) and a few L-cities in between (Lafayette: 15 minutes and Longmont: 20 minutes). These locations are especially appealing this time of year with so many fall festivals, pumpkin patches, corn mazes and Halloween things to do — such a short drive (or walk) away!
Hometown Treats and Tricks
Boo on Briggs Street is the place to be on late Saturday afternoon, October 27 in historic downtown Erie – just minutes from Colliers Hill. Erie Parks and Recreation will host trick-or-treating fun, creative costume contests and a shake your boo-ty dance party from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Kids and adults alike enjoy this annual street bash, with trunk or treating and storefront treating. Put on your Halloween best and enter The Boo! on Briggs Street costume contests for infants to eight-year-olds, nine and over, plus group and themed categories. The Glow-in-the-Dark dance party kicks off at 6:00 p.m. with a professional D.J. and complimentary glow-in-the-dark giveaways for the kids.
Pumpkins, Zombie Hunt, and Haunted Hayrides!
Anderson Farms, 6728 County Rd. 3 ¼, Erie, CO
From now through Halloween, your ticket to Anderson Farms admits you to a 25-acre corn maze, jump pads, the new combine slide, farm animals, the wooden train, a barrel train, mine cars, pedal carts and a wagon ride to the 30-acre pumpkin patch, where you’ll find 70 varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds. Pumpkins are priced between $2 and $12 and ticket prices are $12 to $18, with children under 3 free.
You can get more scares for your money in the Anderson Farms haunted hayride — Terror in the Corn — or take aim at the pretend undead in a Zombie Paintball Hunt – the interactive, after-dark paintball experience shooting zombies from a wagon! How fun is that?! Prices for Terror/Zombie are $27 each, or combo tickets to both are $49. Check the Anderson Farms website for times and scary you-are-there videos!
Pumpkin Decorating, Straw Bale and Corn Mazes

Through Halloween, your $3-to-$5 ticket (weekdays or weekends) includes a four-acre corn maze, straw bale maze, pumpkin patch, farm animals, steam engine and farm equipment, farm stand and hay rides. Fun family hay rides are a rolling adventure in the crisp autumn air and plunging into a corn maze cut into a cornfield will test everybody’s sense of direction!
The family-oriented Fall Festival of Lafayette is Sunday, October 28 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Bob Burger Recreation Center, 111 Baseline Rd. in Lafayette. With a bounce house, the annual pumpkin race and awards for a pumpkin decorating contest sponsored by the Lions Club, the Fall Festival is an afternoon of fun for the whole family. Pick up your pumpkin today or tomorrow at the recreation center (online registration page) and then take your pumpkin home and release your inner artist! Bring your artistic masterpiece back to the rec center for the contest judging at 3:30 p.m.
The Lafayette annual Great Pumpkin Race is one-of-a-kind competition that’s as much fun to wash as it is to enter ($3 to $5). Register online to launch your pumpkin into the “lazy river and cheer its progress on the way to the finish line! All winners will receive Fall Festival prizes.
A Colliers Hill Halloween
The YMCA at Colliers Hill will host a Halloween Party for Colliers Hill kids, October 31 from 4:00 — to 6:00 p.m. Come join friends and neighbors for a fun afternoon of Happy Halloween entertainment!
