Halloween Costumes and Cocktails!
We can’t believe Halloween is already around the corner! While this Halloween is going to be very different from others due to social distancing and mask mandates, you’ll still find so many ways to celebrate the spookiest holiday. From scary to adorable, we’ve rounded up our favorite Halloween 2020 drinks and costume ideas so you can sip, scare, and savor All Hallows’ Eve in style.
Scary-Good Drinks
Whether you’re hosting a socially distanced cocktail hour or meeting up for virtual drinks with your Boo Crew, single serve is key this year. Enter the tried-and-true Jell-O shot, but with a spooky twist. Eyeballs really take neon green Jell-O shots to the next level. Witching hour isn’t complete without Black Magic Jell-o shots, which are almost too gorgeous to eat! Of course, making Jell-O shots kid-friendly is a cinch — just skip the alcohol!
If there has ever been a year to make Instagrammable cocktails, this is it! Impress your followers and far-away friends and family with cocktails that you won’t be able to stop taking pictures of — think dry ice, shimmery liquids, and colorful hues. Brew up a batch of a spell-worthy potions appropriately called The Witch’s Heart using yummy seasonal liqueurs like blackberry and apple brandy. Lean into the truly gruesome with a Dracula’s Blood cocktail — one adult beverage to which adding plastic fangs is absolutely necessary, don’t you think?
One Halloween tradition that we can really get behind is anything to do with Hocus Pocus, especially a virtual watch party. Key up a Disney Plus group watch and send out a themed cocktail recipe for a drink so gorgeous, we think even the Sanderson Sisters would be impressed. We also love the idea of serving Frankenstein’s Monster-inspired mocktails to include everyone in on the fun!
Contest-Winning Costumes
Cue the costumes! Whether you’re having an outdoor costume parade or a virtual costume contest or simply taking pictures to send to your loved ones for the memories, we’ve got you covered.
Of course, you’ll find plenty of Halloween-themed masks for truly low-effort costumes. Why not work the mask right into your costume? Many costumes already have masks, so any cloth mask beneath will be completely hidden. Or, you could make the mask a feature of the costume — tiny health care heroes, anyone? If you’re feeling truly crafty, decorate a child-size face shield with unicorn, dragon, princess, space, or spooky designs to truly blend safety and fun.
Although Halloween is aimed more at children, we’re firm believers in parents getting in on the fun. We’re suckers for a good family costume. From the Wizard of Oz to s’mores — yes, s’mores — there are group costume ideas to suit any level of DIY or effort. Expecting this Halloween season? Take maternity costumes to another level with bump-inclusive costumes, including Winnie the Pooh, kangaroos, and of course, a little pumpkin.
