Can you believe it’s almost Labor Day? End of summer? No more pool days? Start of school days? Well, there’s at least one bright spot to the fact that time evaporates like dew on an August day and we’re talking about – wait for it – Labor Day sales! We love them and know you do, too, so rounded up some of the best to give you a head start on scoring some deals and steals!
Clothing, Beds and Bedding
You would expect that with only days of swim weather left, swimsuits everywhere will be on sale, and you’d be right. It’s the summer clearance time of year and you can pick up next year’s swimwear for a big discount, and lots of other warm-weather clothing. Nordstrom has dresses, workout wear, tops, shorts and summer jumpsuits on sale -up to 50 percent off, for Nordie fans.
Every year about this time, according to Nerd Wallet, you can expect to see mattresses and back-to-school supplies on sale. Wayfair is offering 50 percent off mattresses – the only drawback is you can’t stretch out for a comfort test before you snag your great deal! But you’ll find plush pillow top mattresses, memory foam, gel memory foam and all kinds of inner-spring varieties.
Technology and Electronics
Apple is famous for announcing its new iPhones at its annual keynote in September. Usually, the unveiling is followed by a drop in prices on the current phones in anticipation of the new models. Last week, Tom’s Guide predicted the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro should be announced around September 10, with preorders likely on September 13 and sales starting September 20.
The rumors at 9to5Mac suggest pricing is likely to start at $999 and increase for additional storage and a larger screen. The 1TB option is probably not going to be offered this year, so if that’s what you’re waiting for, be patient for one more year!
Appliances and Patio Furniture
Early September is a good month to see big markdowns on appliances and outdoor furniture. Check out the 40 percent off sale at Home Depot, a mere 15 minutes south of your front door in Colliers Hill. Best Buy is offering free delivery on major appliance purchases ($399 and up – a $70 value), and Amazon is offering 40 percent off things like a Dyson cordless vacuum. September may not be Black Friday or Christmas in July, but you can score some pretty good deals from online retailers right about now!
And back to Best Buy, check back daily and you’ll find a “Deal of the Day” up until Labor Day, and advertised specials.
Patio furniture is a hot buy, too, so check out the options at Overstock, Walmart and Target – all slated to offer deals of 30 to 70 percent. And grill sales are scorchers next month! Watch for Lowe’s to offer up to 75 percent off of their great grill selection.
