Spectacular Sconces and Chic Chandeliers!
Light fixtures are meant to last. But that doesn’t mean you can’t change something pedestrian for something inspired when it comes to lighting your home. As one light designer says – ambient lighting plays an important role in enhancing room aesthetics. We flipped the switch to give you a sampling of on-trend light fixtures for 2020, from sconces and pendants, to ceiling lights and chandeliers, favored by designers from New York to Paris.
Charming and Spectacular Chandeliers
When you’re looking for a statement chandelier for an entryway or to create a focal point in the living room, there are a few trendy sites to visit for spectacular chandelier ideas. Currey & Company has a wide variety of styles including artistic works and one that snagged our attention straight away was the Braithwell. With recycled glass discs dangling from a wrought iron frame, the Braithwell features a textural shade that turns light into a striking mottled mosaic. We didn’t sign in to check the price, but we suspect it might be as spectacular as the chandelier!
Just as modern, but with an entirely different take on the chandelier concept is a contemporary candelabra design from Arteriors – the Griffith Chandelier. This simple, sophisticated and impressive piece of artistry is suspended from decorative piping and its steel frame is finished in a warm heritage brass or antique brass, paired with black crystal rods.
The Arteriors product designers travel the world touring the streets of global design meccas and attending workshops with other designers from Milan to Guadalajara to bring elements of fashion and architecture to their light fixture designs.
Here’s a showy chandelier that’s all bling and lights, and we picked it as much for its name – the Sputnik – as we did for the statement it makes above a dining room table. Imagine turning on all 18 lights to illuminate your next dinner party! The Wrought Studio focuses on contemporary design at a great value to meet the demand from shoppers who crave high-end style for less. Their vast collection of furniture and decor available from Wayfair for $800, makes it easy to find the right light fixture for your of-the-moment space.
And for natural materials, this transitional Entwined Ovals Chandelier from Shades of Light is large and stately enough for any dining room table. The metal ovals are made to look like driftwood and surround a candelabra style cluster and is finished in bronze with gold highlights.
One more before moving from ceiling suspension to smaller wall sconces and pendant lights is the Vertigo Geometric Chandelier by Corbett Lighting. This design makes us think of infinity circles with a stunning cylindrical caramel ice shade, gold leaf and black iron finishes. With pendants to match, these are captivating adornments for any room décor for $1154 plus $647 each for pendants.
Sassy and Select Sconces
All that glitters is not gold – but this palm-shaped sconce still looks the part and will add a flash of brilliance to an ordinary wall. From Arteriors, a 25-year-old award-winning home design business, this exceptional home accent reflects the philosophy of founder Mark Moussa. “Everything starts with the product and it must be UNIQUE.” This unique accessory – or a pair of them, merges timeless appeal and the latest trends in matte brass-plated aluminum. Regal, right? Available from Neiman Marcus for $173 each.
The first thing we thought of was fine wine when we saw this handcrafted wall sconce in brass with a hand-blown glass globe. The blend of clean lines in the backplate and the contrasting stem offset the asymmetrical Dali-esque globe – a creation from the John-Richard Collection out of Greenwood, Mississippi. This decorative accessory makes a lasting impression for $600 per sconce.
Pendants with Pizzazz
The 2020 Peter Bristol Orbit Swiveling Pendant is anything but pedestrian with its elegant and contemporary design from Circa Lighting. And while we can’t quite tell how it swivels or what that does to the light – it’s certainly an unusual take on the pendant concept and available in nickel or brass finishes.
The ARC Nordic Pendant from the chic urban chic designer pair: Nanna Neergaard and Marie Hesseldahl is inspired by the industrial beauty and ingenuity of the regal interior of Grundtvigs Church in Copenhagen. The vast curves and ceiling arches of the church are incorporated into the design – which you’ll see echoed in all the offerings at LeKlint.
